The sad state of the garden

While I was down in sunny Florida, Kansas got hit by a deep freeze. Temps dipped into the high teens/low 20s for 2 nights. Supposedly, the last time that happened in early April was in the 1920s. Needless to say, the perennials took a big hit. I noticed the drooping tulips when I drove back into town. When I pulled into the driveway, I saw the wilted and burned day lilies and sedum next to the drive. In the backyard, the iris are burnt, more daylilies and sedum lay flat on the ground. Hard to say whether the budding butterfly bush and rose shrubs will come back. It’s a sad time…
