Virginia Tech

There are no words that can describe my feelings for the losses at Virginia Tech last week.

An acquaintance of mine is a professor at VT. Nancy wrote an entry in her blog at 9:46am, April 16, while the campus was under lockdown. Within minutes of that post, another online friend emailed our group list to let us know that Nancy was okay. By day 2, Nancy learned that a student in one of her classes had been shot twice but was recuperating in the hospital. Her posts during the week provided a personal glimpse of the strength of community at VT, a community attempting to deal with the shock and horror of what had happened.

While the news media coverage invaded every aspect of our lives last week, it was Nancy’s posts that brought the tragedy close to home.

May those who were touched by this senseless act find peace and comfort from their friends and loved ones.
