Libraries not just for studying any more

We knew that, of course.  We have our cafes now. Libraries are collaborative spaces. We have computers that aren’t just used to look up things in the online catalog. They have software on them so you can create your powerpoint, send email, check your Facebook, yadda, yadda, yadda.

But did you know libraries are also recreational? (Okay, I’ll admit I’ve used our “circus maximus” as a track – 5 times around = 1 mile!)  But, who knew!?!?!  According to this article in today’s K-State Collegian, students are racing through Hale Library and trying to determine “the logistics of making it from one end of the library to the other without touching the ground”!  Jumping from couch to couch, to shelves, hanging from light fixtures.  The writer suggests he could “monkey-bar it” on the light fixtures alone… assuming they can hold his weight.

Ah, students. Always thinking creatively. Gotta love ’em.
