Continuations analysis

The Libraries’ E-Resource Working Group has been sunsetted.  The WG had been charged to do a systematic migration of our print journals to e- over the last 3 years. The serials/e- unit will continue to provide data to subject liaisons each spring about titles we’d like to move to online-only. (We have a review process so academic faculty can ask to keep some titles in print.) But the work is more regularized now so the WG just did not see a need to continue. But…

The Continuations Analysis Review Committee has been formed. We’ve done this type of work on an ad hoc/as needed basis for years, i.e., when we needed to do mass cancellations. We are finally getting into a more systematic mode of regularly collection usage & cost data, all part of our strategic plan to make more number-driven, user-centric, decisions.  The timing couldn’t be better giving the budget cuts we have to do.  2009 is going to be a busy year…
