a hostel by any other name…

Edinburgh with the kids was supposed to be my first adventure in hosteling. 17.50GBP per night. A 4 bunk private room, shared bath. Right off the Royal Mile.

Busted water pipes forced the hostel management to relocate us. You don’t mind, do you?

a hostel...not!

room with a view

Not right off the Royal Mile… but right on the Royal Mile. Okay, 4 flights up a winding stone stair case. A 5-star apartment. Two bedrooms, lovely bath, washer/dryer, stove, dishwasher, fridge, WIFI. Same price.

Nope. Don’t mind one bit.

And ‘cos we’re with the hostel, we get a 6GBP full Scottish breakfast for 4GBP. What a deal!

We did Edinburgh Castle and Camera Obscura yesterday. Friend Al & her hubby drove over from Glasgow for drinks at an old haunt of theirs, the Halfway House in Fleshmarket Close. We had dinner at Ti Amo, a great Italian restaurant on North Bridge Street. The kids are having a fabulous time and so am I.

More sightseeing in store today, then I must say good-bye to Scotland. *sniff*
