well, the interviews…
In a time when our colleagues are enduring reduced staffing, our administrators have convinced the higher-ups to give us waivers to recruit. This has been a long, drawn-out process. The dean has been advocating for close to 2 years for many of these positions as part of our reorganization. We’ve lost several staff during that time as well and have at least 2 retirements at the end of this year. All told, we were down more than 2 dozen positions and needing to move staff into new roles.
Recruitment began internally a year ago! I actually chaired 2 searches back then. Additional searches continued through the spring and summer, and at least one external search opened. Currently we have 6 or 7 searches underway, including 2 internal ones that I chair.
The first interview (of many) was today! I just hope we can maintain our stamina and our enthusiasm!
